Another thing that’s worth taking now is what he has chosen to wear in terms of clothing. As this is a photo attended for an abolitionist newspaper they could have made him wear anything from simple Rags or beat up clothing to emphasize the brutality of slavery. Yet they have chosen to make him wear a simple yet elegant outfit. This was most likely done on purpose as  the clothes he was wearing are the common Northern white person would wear during the colder months. Thus this adds to the humanity of the photo as if the photographer and Wilson were trying to say we are similar yet look how we are treating look what is put on to us and how we are tortured and beaten.
