Standard #2 Learning Differences

The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.

The artifact that I am choosing to use is my fieldwork assignment 1. For this assignment, I choose two activities and reflected on how I saw them being implemented in my fieldwork. The two standards I choose for the Maine Common Core Teaching Standards (CCTS) and the Council on Exceptional Children (CEC) Special Education Preparation Standards are standard 1 Learner Development and Individual Learning Differences the CEC and for the CCTS I am choosing Standard #2 Learning Differences. The reason why this artifact aligned with the two standards is that Mr. Ganly’s class (My fieldwork teacher) has a student from Nigeria and while she can speak English she has a hard time understanding English. This aligned with the standards as both of the standards talk about meeting the needs of students with cultural diversity.

This assessment helps to expand the subject and these two standards. By viewing Mr. Ganly and how he helps this student and then by writing about it I was able to being to think about how I would help that student. As well as conect it to the two standards I have chosen and other standards.
